Assessment, treatment and prevention of vitamin D deficiency
This learning module will help you to recognise which groups are at increased risk of vitamin D deficiency and understand how to assess people's vitamin D status. It also looks at how to support the prevention and treatment of low vitamin D levels, which typically involves supplementation and lifestyle changes. Learning aims and intended outcomes After completing the module and time out activities, you should be able to: Understand the physiology and role of vitamin D. Explain which groups are at increased risk of vitamin D deficiency and why. Outline the symptoms and long-term consequences of vitamin D deficiency. Understand what is involved in the treatment and monitoring of low vitamin D levels.
